Queen reflects on 'Call me Tony'

"Stop squabbling!" the Press Secretary said in a tired voice.
"We haven't had even one argument to-day" the Queen said, looking for encouragement from PC.
"No, no.... sorry.... I was just paraphrasing what Bill Clinton said at the Labour Conference - he told them all to get on with it and basically to stop fighting!" the Press Secretary said apologetically. Thank God it wasn't George Bush, he thought to himself - there might have been a few new Tolpuddle Martyrs if he had been invited.
"We had Blair struggling to hold back the tears - there was a nice cartoon in The Sun -'It's my party and I'll cry if I want to !"
They surveyed the other papers noting that Tony Blair did not actually 'annoint' Gordon Brown as his successor.
"So, no 'Arise Sir Gordon' laughed the Queen. "I see here that he remarked about getting old"
"When I get old and losing my hair, many years from now" sang PC.
"Now it looks as though he's here to stay" sang the Queen. "He will never go you know....
"Going, going ... but not quite gone" sniggered PC
"If the Tories get in, there might be some hope of another referendum" the Queen mused
"Let me show you another photo of a Calabrian sunset" , the Press Secretary said, trying to cheer them up.
